Overview
Our City Highlights Tour is the perfect introduction to Salzburg for first-time visitors. This walk brings together the city's most iconic landmarks—like the elegant Mirabell Gardens, the historic Palace Mirabell, and the charming Getreidegasse—while weaving in stories of music, art, and everyday life in the old town.
This tour is just €10 per person.
In return, I’ll bring something valuable to the table:
Over 10 years of experience as a tour guide, a deep love for Salzburg, and a passion for telling stories that bring the city to life.
This isn’t just a job — it’s something I care about. Every tour is shaped with intention, curiosity, and a touch of humor. My goal is simple: to give you a walk through Salzburg that’s not only informative, but memorable and meaningful.
A Taste of What We'll Cover
1. Mirabell Garden
Here we are in the Mirabell Gardens — a place of symmetry, song, and splendor. Created in the 17th century as a gesture of love (and power), these gardens were made to impress, and still do. You might recognize the Pegasus fountain and vine tunnel from The Sound of Music — but even without Hollywood, this is where Salzburg shows off.
2. Marko-Feingold-Steg
Step onto one of Salzburg’s most meaningful landmarks — the Marko Feingold Steg, named in honor of the city’s last Holocaust survivor, human rights advocate, and bridge-builder in every sense of the word. This walking tour is more than sightseeing — it’s an invitation to reflect on the layers of history and identity that shape Salzburg today.
3. Getreidegasse
Welcome to Getreidegasse, Salzburg’s most iconic street. With its wrought-iron signs, narrow medieval passageways, and buzzing shopfronts, it’s the city’s commercial heartbeat — and also its stage.
But Getreidegasse is more than just pretty facades. It’s a living corridor of tradition and tourism, where old meets new: designer brands sit next to centuries-old apothecaries, and tucked behind the storefronts, hidden courtyards whisper stories of Salzburg’s past. Look up — even the signs are storytelling.
4. St. Peter's Monastery
Welcome to the oldest monastery in the German-speaking world, founded around 696 AD by St. Rupert. Behind these weathered walls, monks have lived, studied, and prayed for over a thousand years — quietly shaping Salzburg’s identity from the shadows.
If Salzburg’s old town is its heart, St. Peter’s is its soul.
5. Residence Square
Welcome to Residenzplatz, one of Salzburg’s grandest squares. Surrounded by the Residenz Palace, Salzburg Cathedral, and elegant facades, this is where power and religion once met — and where Salzburg declared its identity to the world.
For centuries, this was the seat of the prince-archbishops, rulers both secular and spiritual. Parades, executions, proclamations, and markets have all taken place here.
A guided walk full of stories, secrets, and soul — all for just €10
